Provost Studio re-envisioned BlackRock’s on-air brand identity with a new webcast studio at 55 E 52nd Street in New York.
Challenged to design a 600-square-foot studio that would be shared by two brands, BlackRock and iShares, Provost chose an overarching color palette that incorporated yellow, representative of both companies, while adding brand-specific colors with color-changing light boxes. The studio includes a main informal interview area, monitor stand-up area and chroma key area with scenic elements like new flooring, two new flexible scenic walls, and internal LED lighting. The first scenic wall includes an abstract composition of layered cove-lit panels and vertical edge-lit acrylic fins, while the second is a more traditional window view out to a cityscape.
The new scenic environment takes cues from BlackRock’s re-branding efforts with its bold color blocking, crisp edges and clean lines to build a highly adaptable space for production.
