Provost Studio catapulted China’s Xinhua News into the spotlight with a virtual production studio that was nearly a decade ahead of its time.
Looking to push broadcast presentation boundaries by mixing physical and virtual scenic environments, Provost merged the traditional scenic design process with digital media content creation, resulting in a new 7,500-square-foot virtual studio, audience area, and circulation space that excites. The virtual studio features an LED VR System by Leyard Technology with a footprint of approximately 1,200 square feet. The C-shaped LED wall configuration is approximately 12 ft high and includes top-mounted camera tracking sensors that communicate with on-the-ground studio cameras that adjust the background perspective behind talent in real time.
The custom VR solution Provost Studio provided was developed and tested specifically for Xinhua News in Beijing, and provided the flexibility they needed to address a broad array of video production use-cases.
